Last Aug 8th, V6′s Okada Junichi attended the press conference for NHK‘s 2014 Taiga drama “Gunshi Kanbee” (Kanbee Strategist). Aside from Okada, 17 of the rest of the cast were also present, which includes: Uchida Yuki, Kiritani Mirei, Takaoka Saki, Minamisawa Nao, Yoshimoto Miyu, Hayami Mokomichi, Fukikoshi Mitsuru, Shobutei Koasa, Ryu Raita, Shiomi Sansei, Tanaka Tetsushi, Tanaka Kei, Hamada Gaku, Takahashi Issei, Tsukamoto Takashi, Nagai Masaru, and Matsuzaka Tori, who was absent from the presscon due to pneumonia.

Okada will play the role of Kanbee Kuroda, a legendary strategist during the turbulent days of Warring State Period. Rounding-up the Kuroda family, are: Nakatani as the wife, Matsuzaka as the eldest son, and Hayami and Tsukamoto as the vassals/retainers. Okada has met his “vassals” before for horseback training sessions. Being surrounded by reliable actors, Okada said that he is looking forward to working with them for a year.

Okada also shared that he already felt “parental affection” for Matsuzaka Tori, who will play as his eldest son, after being absent from the press conference due to pneumonia. “I don’t know why I feel love and worry for some reason, I hope he gets better soon,” Okada commented. Okada and Matsuzaka haven’t met yet.

Gunshi Kanbee” will start filming this month and will air next year.

I actually feel a bit bad for translating this article for Tori and not really for Okada. XDDD.

    • EDITED! Thanks for correction, I got Atsuhime and Umechan-sensei mixed up, which both stars Maki but not Tori.
