Sorry Takki, Tsubasa will really be doing a kabuki.
It was announced that Tackey&Tsubasa‘s Imai Tsubasa will be debuting in Kabuki stage for “GOEMON Ishikawa goemon” at Osaka’s Shochikuza. Tsubasa will star alongside popular kabuki actor, Kataoka Ainosuke, in this fusion of Japanese and Western repertoire.
“GOEMON” first premiered in 2011 at Otsuka Museum of Art and will be newly composed for this year’s performance. Ishikawa Goemon is a known master thief who gave away his looted stuffs to the poor. Goemon also inherited Spanish blood from his father.
Although Tsubasa’s role hasn’t been fully decided, its likely that he will play Goemon’s father, a Spanish missionary; and because of Tsubasa’s knowledge about Spain that he was chosen for this play. Moreover, flamenco will also be included in this play that will be chereographed by Sato Hiroki. Tsubasa, known for being a flamenco dancer commented, “I will going to show an exceptional flamenco in kabuki. I’m fired up, the big time has come”.
