As reported earlier, Yamashita Tomohisa aka Yamapi will star in the Japanese TV adaptation of Daniel Keyes‘s “Flowers for Algernon“. The modern version will be written by Nojima Shinji that tells the story of Shiratori Sakito, a mentally retarded 28 year old man who turned genius after a successful experiment.
Joining Yamapi in “Flowers for Algernon”, are: Kuriyama Chiaki as Mochizuki Haruka, a researcher at Brain Physiology Science Research Center whom Shiratori will develop romantic feelings for; Sexy Zone‘s Kikuchi Fuma as Mochizuki’s fellow researcher at the science center; Kubota Masataka and Kudo Asuka as Shiratori’s colleague at work; Hagiwara Masato as the company’s president where Shiratoi works who is more understanding than Shiratori’s own father; and Ishimaru Kanji as the scientist who holds a distorted affection on Shiratori. Oomasa Aya, Tanimura Mitsuki, and Hagiwara Masato are also included in the cast.
“Flowers for Algernon” will air on TBS every Friday at 10:00 PM starting this April.
