Kimura Takuya’s HERO Movie Gets Universal Studios Japan Tie-Up

It must be easy being SMAP’s Kimura Takuya when your upcoming movie gets loads of promotional activities and it’s not just limited to commercials and theater preview.

This summer, “HERO” will return to movie theaters after a successful 2nd season run last summer of 2014. Even though it was not as successful as the 2001 original, the movie is still highly anticipated with the comeback of actress Matsu Takako aka Amemiya who played Kimura’s love interest in the original. In the 2015 movie version, Public Prosecutor Kuryuu Kohei (Kimura) investigates an incident involving an embassy of a certain country. The right to criminal investigation involving an embassy or a diplomat is challenged with the “wall of extraterritorially”.

Kimura will be joined by his new assistant and heroine, Kitagawa Keiko, along with some of the drama’s original cast and new ones. Rounding-up the cast, are: Sato Koichi, Sugimoto Tetta, Hamada Gaku, Yoshida Yo, Katsuya, Matsushige Yutaka, Yashima Norito, Kohinata Fumiyo, and Kadono Takuzo.

In lieu with the movie’s promotional activities, trains in JR Yamanote Line will be wrap with advertisements featuring HERO characters and it will last until the end of July. In addition, Universal Studios Japan will open a replica of St. George’s Tavern, the bar that was frequented by Kimura’s character in the drama and will even feature a replica of the bar’s master. Lastly, Parkside Grill inside USJ will also be making those “(Takoyaki)Octopus tacos” that appeared in the drama. Wow, I think this is one of the perks of being a USJ endorser even though the movie is not even from Universal Studios. Anyway, instead of the bar, I think that they should have gone with the Josai office, especially with the mini lounge where prosecutors banter and eat bananas at the same time.

HERO” 2015 movie will hit the theaters on July 18th.
