On Aug 15th, it has been reported that NTV’s 24 Hour TV ~Love Saves the Earth~ charity t-shirts have broken through the 1 million sales mark, making it the most sold t-shirts ever. The t-shirts sales have hit the 1 million mark last Aug 8th and have gone to 1,050,000 pieces sold as of Aug 14th.

T-shirts were designed from the collaboration of Arashi‘s Satoshi Ohno and renowned artist Kusama Yayoi. The said t-shirts went on sale last June 14 where 2,000 people made a beeline at the good’s store in Tokyo’s Shiodome.

Starting from red polka-dots, which was adopted from Kusama’s design for luxury-brand Louis Vuitton, and adding minimalistic touch; the two made a monumental collaboration despite being busy with their own craft. Ohno and Kusama have also expressed their joy that their t-shirts have been loved by all.

Despite the circulating rumors that Arashi’s appearance fee for NTV comes with a hefty tag of 50 million Yen, NTV release a statement that Arashi’s appearance is voluntary and Ohno won’t be receiving any payments for his t-shirt design.

Last year’s charity t-shirts have sold 764, 198 pieces, related news here.

24 Hr TV charity shirts are sold at JPY 1,500 a piece.
